The app

Murmure main window: sidebar (Home, Dictionary, History, Settings), stats, and a live overlay preview
A real macOS app — sidebar, dashboard, resizable and full-screen. The dashboard previews the live overlay (waveform while recording, brain while the local AI cleans up) and the cursor pastille that marks where your text lands.
Murmure dictionary: validated vocabulary as chips, plus a queue of words to validate with their sentence context
Your dictionary holds only words you've validated. New ones queue up with their sentence context — approve or reject each before it's learned. (Example data shown.)

What it does

Truly private

Transcription (whisper.cpp) and AI cleanup run entirely on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded, ever.

Live feedback

Your words appear live above a Spotlight-style spectrum as you talk, then a brain shows the AI cleanup.

AI cleanup

A local LLM removes filler words, stutters and repetitions, and fixes punctuation — keeping your words.

You own the dictionary

Correct a transcript and Murmure proposes the word — it joins your dictionary only after you validate it.

Editable shortcuts

Re-bind every shortcut, with conflict warnings. Pastes at the cursor in any app, web included.

Dictate in parallel

Fire off several dictations at once — they stack up and are delivered in order, so your text never gets scrambled.

Install

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Hugo291/Murmure/main/install.sh)"

One command. It installs the dependencies, the speech model, builds and signs the app, and launches it. macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
